My fiance actually is from southwest Michigan, so I'll have to ask her family if they've heard about this program.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03557396674826237550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-892142066573616013.post-73468699730522098662011-01-21T14:15:03.103-08:002011-01-21T14:15:03.103-08:00Thanks for reading it! I think that would be a better improvement over removing tenure altogether.

Hope you're new district is treating you well!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03557396674826237550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-892142066573616013.post-85107847462669429042011-01-07T19:21:25.307-08:002011-01-07T19:21:25.307-08:00I was a victim of seniority and budget cuts at my ...I was a victim of seniority and budget cuts at my old district. It was a very strange process. I went to a school board meeting, saw my name wasn't on the schedule for next year, went to another school board meeting, and listened as 3 of the 5 members voted to non-renew my contract. Since then I've been skeptical of unions and the entire process of seniority as I was bumped by a special ed teacher on a variance who had a science license.

I ran across this video on reform lately, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIMLb0nRLBk&feature=youtu.be&a, that has had me thinking more about teachers unions and "real reform". I'm not sure what to think of the Bill Gates of the world and the corporate interest in education.

Thanks for the post!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-892142066573616013.post-28204676241312219842011-01-06T16:51:22.753-08:002011-01-06T16:51:22.753-08:00Western MI State University has a great program to...Western MI State University has a great program to work with homeless college students.Diane Nilanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03886329898369901405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-892142066573616013.post-82460996140054729522010-12-01T18:39:20.074-08:002010-12-01T18:39:20.074-08:00Great Post Rachel.

But we must remember "we must be the change we want to see in the world". As we make the necessary changes and succeed in improving our school, our district, our state, others will take notice. Keep up the fight!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03557396674826237550noreply@blogger.com
